Amstelveen, The Netherlands, May 2 2003. Canon, a leader in photographic and imaging technology, releases today the tiny battery-powered Card Photo Printer CP 300, the latest compact addition to its 'Direct Print' range. By plugging a Canon digital camera straight into the printer, Card Photo Printer CP 300 (powered from the supplied battery or the mains) produces photo-lab quality color prints with no PC required.
"This mobile mini-lab is part of a hot new area of digital photography", explains Hiroshi Komatsuzaki, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging Europe. "Our direct printer market has grown by over 200% in the last 12 months and we only expect that to accelerate as more and more digital camera users look for a simple means of printing their favourite shots".
Full mobility
40% smaller and 13% lighter than previous Canon models, Canon's smallest ever battery-powered direct printer offers ultimate portability with its petite design. The Card Photo Printer CP 300 is small enough to be kept in a drawer, yet stylish enough to look right at home in the living room. An optional car battery adapter CBA-CP100 powers the printer and recharges the printer battery.
Connect, Select, Print
When powered on, a cool blue LED brings the cover of the stylish casing to life. To print a photo, the camera is directly connected to the Card Photo Printer CP 300 with the camera's standard USB cable. A simple menu on the camera allows print size, type and quantity to be selected. Within approximately 85 seconds of hitting 'print', the process for a superb postcard size print, is complete.
Traditional photo feel
Canon uses dye-sublimation technology to reproduce photo-grade tones. The Card Photo Printer CP 300 builds up full colour images by merging three separate colour layers; yellow, magenta and cyan. A durable, high-gloss finish is added with a final protective layer, resulting in prints that have the same look-and-feel and fade-resistant durability as traditional silver halide photographs.
Print choices
The Card Photo Printer CP 300 offers a choice of borderless print sizes: the enduring and popular 10x15 cm, optional L size, card size and mini-stickers. Personal postcards are now possible within 2 minutes of taking a photo, with pre-printing of postcard ruling on standard 10x15cm media.
Compatibility
The Card Photo Printer CP 300 works with all of Canon's direct-print compatible range of digital cameras. For those wishing to print from their computer, Windows and Macintosh drivers come as standard. For future compatibility the Card Photo Printer CP-300 is designed to be ready for PictBridge .
