Have fun with the Digital jump
Using a D1, and P&S's I know it can be hard, latitude is not always what you think it will be

Not let down as such. The Fuji 602 is an amazing tool, but lacks DOF control to any useable degree, shutter is a tad laggy, high ISO is noisy, auto focus is too slow, manual focus is appalling! Unuseable in fact.
Example:
Fireworks..... No focus scale so cant pre focus in the semi dark. Autofocus non functional in that light. OK, yes, I did get some quite reasonable firework pics in the end, but it was a big hassle. My old Pracktica LTL would've been so much easier, quicker, and nore reliable.
There are other reasons too, but I wont bore you all with them.
Please dont think I hate the 602, I dont! Its a fantastic bit of kit.
Brendan? I'm not sure about your reference to latitude. Can you say more of whats on your mind please?
:)

With using digital, and talking to other dightal users, atleast the Nikon, and HP bodies have a smaller latitude. Instead of a nice wide print film latitude, its more like Slide Film. Also theirs still a slight dulay from shutter to rigger. and BATTERIES carry plenty of them. get atleast 2 batteries for your digi.

Speaking of batteries! I had a very early night last night so I could get up at the crack of dawn and take a few shots of the hot air balloons taking off before I had to toddle off to work at 7am.
So I left my camera out and had it all ready, went out to the airfield where they take off and switched my camera on to a blinking red battery low light.
Damn the cold! It was 35 here this morning when I went out, I thought to make myself all nice and warm but I forgot my poor battery! I took two photos and then it was gone, all that sleep for nothing :D
As for the 602.. its a nice camera as is my G2 but not good enough anymore, 105mm isn't far enough for me and I don't need a dorky looking extender, its bad enough just having a black tube on a silver camera just so I can use filters.
Your reasons for buying one are pretty much the same as mine, especially the 400 ISO noise that is pitiful on the G2, I love shooting in low light and its just not worth it with this camera. The same goes for the focus speed and working in low light, sure it has a focus assist beam but thats only good for a few metres.
I could go on and on but I'm not going to.
