I would think when anyone is starting in photography, there is someone out there whose work is inspiring. Maybe it is someone you know personally... maybe it is someone you have never met. What style do you love best?

For me... my own inspiration is a friend of mine. She is starting her own photography business, and I am such a fan of her work.

She has been so very patient with me, and answers each and every question. I am so inspired by her!

So, who inspires you?

I'm inspired by other photographers, but more often than not I'm inspired by family memebers. I have a lot of elderly family members. My grandfather is 74, and his wife is 68. There both still able to walk around and take care of themselves. I love to take pictures of them with their great grandchildren four generations all together. That inspires me.

You are both very right that there are many people in our life who inspire us. For me... my mother is the inspiration for most everything I aspire to be. She is such an amazing woman. I really want to get some photos of her with her three grandchildren. (all born within 9 months of each other)

DJDizzy... I would love to see some of those multigenerational photos! That is wonderful that you captured that moments in time for generations to come. You helped give me the idea to get moving to get photos of my own parents with their grandchildren!

oostermeijer... I am not familiar with Norman Parkinson. What was the subject of his work?

I look at it a little different. I don't really have anyone that has inspired me, but I have a sweet hubby that keeps me going and encourages me to do my own thing and not be like anyone else.

I, too, am indpired by my family. My baby is the subject of most of my photography because I know that each photo opportunity only happens once. After that it is gone and the opportunity will never be the same one. I take as many pictures as I can!

So very true! My 18mo is the center of most of my photos. Sometimes, I wish I had a camera constantly on my face so I wouldn't miss a moment. Too many times, I have said "Oh, where is my camera?" I've learned to keep it out and ready on the weekends when I am home with my son.

I'd love to see a photo of your baby that you've taken!

Good idea.
When I am home after the holidays I'll have to search my computer for a good one to post. I live in Canada and it is Thanksgiving weekend here so we are at my in-laws for a visit.

My father inspired me in many ways, and one way is photography. He was an amateur, but received many requests to take photos for weddings and get-to-gethers. Like many things my father did, he was very good at photography.

He was an influence on me in many ways.

What a great tribute to your father! Sounds like he had so much natural talent, and passed it down to you. Do you have any favorite photos of the ones he took? I wondered if there is one that stands out in your mind.

although my family and friends do inspire me, i have to admit that great photographers themselves give me the greater motivation/inspiration. i don't really know any photographer personally but just websurfing through photography sites push me to do something different with my camera. :)

I can't pinpoint any one person that inspires me either. When I see something that would make a great photo, that is what inspires me. I try not to leave the house without my camera.

I really need to learn to NEVER leave the house without my camera. I have been caught too many times with a vision of a PERFECT photo and no camera in my hand. You would think that I would learn to always carry it since I have my son now.

Sometimes, I see a vision in nature that I just wish I could capture an image of forever. Sunsets, the glisten of rain on leaves, the vivid color of a stopsign on a cloudy day... I always wish I had my camera!
