If you remember last year this conference brought this site down, Thanks to our readers we had the most traffic ever with the latest announcements at PMA 2007. This year Sony held another one with the same ground-breaking news with the Alpha flagship model announcement.

Other news:
They feel that they are much ahead of the curve with point and shoot sales with their Cybershot line. They attribute this to their feature packed cameras. Infarct, this year they will hit the 100 millionth Cybershot camera sold.
Features like face diction and smile diction are leading the way with what I call “camera does the work” features.
Handycam will feature face diction tech and all will be able to record in 16x9 format and with the new HD models they all will record at 1080i.

Across lines, Handycam, Cybershot and Alpha DSLR they are focusing now on 2 goals:
1 Enhance shooting experience with better features like AF, shooting modes etc.
2 Enhanced viewing with integration with their various displays and the new S-Frame Digital Photo frame.

With the Alpha line the just announced Alpha 300 (10mp) and 350 (14mp) cameras feature new CMOS sensors (APS-C) that feature a new Live-View mode with “Quick AF Live-View” feature that promises to deliver live-view AF at speeds that are similar via traditional methods. The Alpha line is truly growing and though it has taken them almost 3 years to become a true player in the DSLR market, with the latest announcements they are clearly targeting the “big 2” and with the latest announcement of a Full Frame DSLR professional photographers will be truly giving them a look when considering a high-end DSLR. Sony is not just your big-box store DSLR anymore; they truly deserve shelf space in the most dedicated camera store.
